2006 Tri-Conference

I presented a poster on Mass Digitization Initiatives at Tri-Conference in Wichita today. I described Google Book Search, the Open Content Alliance, and the World Digital library. It was a good experience to create a display and act professional. However, it was disappointing how few people at the conference showed an interest. The only thing I stood to gain was the opportunity to share knowledge with others. It was rewarding to see two people walk away excited to use the information they gained.

Explain more...what is Tri-Conference? Was this for school or just for personal enrichment? I think I could stand to learn from you and your display...I don't even know what you're talking about.

My poster in a nutshell:

•Google Book Search serves as a virtual card catalog by allowing one to find books by keywords contained within the text. Available at http://books.google.com

•The Open Content Alliance will facilitate access to full texts of books in the public domain. It will be available through www.opencontentalliance, Yahoo! Search, and www.archive.org.

•The World Digital Library will support the viewing of one-of-a-kind cultural artifacts from around the world. It will be available through www.loc.gov.
