Audio Books Online

I have neglected my blog for two reasons. The second is that I have not made it a priority.
This may be of interest to some of you: Did you know you can now download audiobooks for free from the Kansas State Library?! Yes, it is true. All you need to do is get a Kansas Library Card (this is separate from your local library card) and go to the following website. By the way, you can sign up for a temporary card online as long as you verify it at your local library within a certain number of days. http://skyways.lib.ks.us/ Click on the link to Audio Books, Music and More. Now was that value added or what? You techies can download these books to your MP3 players, some can be burned to discs, you can have a grand ol' time.

life's simple joys

Here are some recent photos I thought I would share. I like how the light pierces the bottoms of these purple flowers.

This bulldog puppy is one of six. Pretty darn cute, but they can do some gross things!

Easter Eggs!

We decorated Easter eggs with my protege yesterday. What fun! The creative juices were flowing and we had a watermellon, a head, the beach, and several other colorful little eggs.

Giddy Gardener

I am so excited about my garden! I have to look every day (sometimes more than once) to see if any seeds have sprouted and watch their progress. This year I am starting a few plants indoors. The brussels sprouts and one tomato have spouted so far. My parsley and spinach from last year are still alive and well. Parsley is supposed to grow for two years, but I had 6 invincible spinach plants (pictured) that survived the mild winter!

2006 Tri-Conference

I presented a poster on Mass Digitization Initiatives at Tri-Conference in Wichita today. I described Google Book Search, the Open Content Alliance, and the World Digital library. It was a good experience to create a display and act professional. However, it was disappointing how few people at the conference showed an interest. The only thing I stood to gain was the opportunity to share knowledge with others. It was rewarding to see two people walk away excited to use the information they gained.

dare to dream

What a fun weekend it has been! My friend Lenay came into town friday evening. We enjoyed Macaroni Grill for dinner and a brief shopping trip. Saturday morning she got dolled up and we headed for a whirlwind photo shoot at a nearby Nature Center. In about 10 minutes (and very chilly morning air) we snapped some glamour shots and then headed off to record her first demo CD! She did fantastic! You know someone is really good when they force you to experience the song rather than just hear it. That's what she does. Two of my photos (one is shown here) were printed on the CD along with her name, contact info, and the song list. This was a really big day for Nay. This is something she has wanted to do for a long time and it has been fun to watch God's hand in making her dream a reality. One thing that was fun about this weekend was rehashing memories we have made together over the past 10 years. Lenay is much better in the memory department than I, so it is always a joy to hear her tell our stories. It was so fun to share this memory with her and I can't wait to continue watching God's plans for her life unfold!

What's the question?

How can I be faithful with where I am and what I have today? Good question. Good day.
